Patti Towler was appointed President and CEO of CPA Nova Scotia in September 2015. She began her career at Stewart McKelvey in Halifax and continued to practice law at a major Vancouver firm after relocating there in 1996. For the past decade, she has held executive roles in the post-secondary sector and is experienced in change management, marketing, and organizational leadership. She holds degrees in international law (University of San Diego), applied ethics (Regent College) and political science (King's College) as well as being a graduate of the Schulich School of Law at Dalhousie. She is also a trained mediator, published author, and is in demand as a public speaker on issues of leadership and management. Patti is delighted to be back in Nova Scotia and to have the opportunity to contribute to the accounting profession at a time of significant change and transformation.

As the Senior Director Regulatory Affairs and Registrar, Anne leads CPA Nova Scotia's efforts to protect the public interest and integrity of the profession. CPA Nova Scotia sets and enforces high professional standards through ongoing professional education, support, practice inspections, and delivery of a robust complaint and discipline process. The Registrar is also responsible for maintaining a public registry of members and licensing those engaged in public accounting.

Prior to joining CPA Nova Scotia, Anne spent 11 years working for the Province of Nova Scotia in various departments, most recently with Business Nova Scotia. She began her career with Ernst & Young and spent time in their Halifax, Calgary and Washington D.C. offices. Outside of work, Anne keeps busy with her family as a mother of three and is actively involved in her community.  

Carol Barr is the Director of Professional Conduct and is responsible for administering the complaint and discipline process.

Prior to joining CPA Nova Scotia, Carol was a partner at BDO Canada LLP.  She began her professional accounting career at Ernst & Young, then moved into industry as a VP Finance for a number of years before returning to public practice.  Outside of work, Carol keeps busy biking, gardening and enjoying other outdoor activities.

Bruce MacInnis is the Director of Professional Standards and is responsible for administering the practice inspection program (professional standards review), professional liability insurance, and advisory services dealing with inquiries from members, as well as staff liaison for the Practitioners Committee and the Accounting Education Foundation of Nova Scotia. Bruce also represents CPA Nova Scotia on CPA Canada's Practice Inspection Program and Public Practice Advisory Services Committees.

Bruce articled in Calgary auditing both listed and private entities.  He has worked as controller in a listed entity and as CFO in private industry before returning to the public accounting field, where he has been for the past 17 years. His strong interest in standards does not interfere with him getting out on to the water in his sea kayak or pursuing his interest in karate.

Clare’s role as Legal Counsel is to provide legal advice and services to CPA Nova Scotia, its employees, and volunteers.

Prior to joining CPA Nova Scotia, Clare practiced civil litigation and administrative law at two major Atlantic regional law firms in Halifax, followed by a period at home raising her four children. While away from the office, Clare enjoys spending time with her family and is a committed volunteer in her children’s schools and other community organizations.

Danielle comes to us from the CA legacy body where she served as the Membership Registrar for last six years. At CPA Nova Scotia, she is responsible for the membership register and member database, as well as the registration and renewal process for members. She handles professional development reporting and deficiencies and works closely with both the Registration and Professional Development Committees. Outside of work, Danielle enjoys kayaking, hiking with her dog, playing guitar and singing.

As the Regulatory Coordinator for CPA Nova Scotia, Lori provides support to the Regulatory group, which includes the Senior Director of Regulatory Affairs and Registrar, the Associate Registrar and the Director of Professional Standards.  Contact Lori for information on public accounting licensing, firm registration/renewals, firm name changes and membership certificates.

Outside of work, Lori enjoys relaxing outdoors, going to the beach, and spending time with her family and pets. 

As Director of Member Services, Amy is responsible for overseeing programs including Continuing Professional Development delivery, affinity partnerships, member recognition and special events and other initiatives to support connectivity within the membership.

Amy has worked in both public practice and industry, holding roles in financial services and administration.  She enjoys being active with family and friends, travelling to new places and supporting community programs.

If you have visited the CPA Nova Scotia offices, you have likely been greeted by Cindy and felt a warm welcome as a result. As the member Services Co-ordinator, she organizes and arranges reproduction of all Professional Development course materials, assists instructors and participants during class time, supports event management and is the contact person for general and vendor inquiries.

Cindy joined CPA Nova Scotia after working with the Institute of Chartered Accountants for 18 years. Time spent dancing, gardening, and especially with her husband, children and grandchildren are among Cindy's favourite activities.

 As a Member Services Coordinator, Juanita is responsible for organizing professional development programs and special events, dealing with inquiries and other administrative duties related to CPA Nova Scotia members, instructors, and courses. Juanita joins the CPA Nova Scotia family with her professional background in Corporate Communications and Public Relations.

Outside of work, Juanita enjoys spending time with friends/family, quiet time reading or watching old movies /food network.

Rodney manages the day to day operations of CPA Nova Scotia, responsible for establishing and maintaining the organization's financial structure, including budgeting, billings, financial reporting and payroll. He also oversees CPA Nova Scotia's technological infrastructure, facilities, and human resource functions.

Prior to joining CPA Nova Scotia, he held a series of roles with CMA Nova Scotia, most recently as CEO. A husband and a father of two very active boys, Rodney can be found in various hockey rinks throughout the year or on the lakes fishing with his sons.

Megan's primary responsibilities as Accounting Assistant include managing accounts payable and receivable. Members can contact Megan regarding dues payments and receipts, professional development payments, firm renewal payments, application fees, and any other questions related to payments for CPA Nova Scotia.

Outside of work, Megan enjoys crocheting, reading, and spending time outdoors with her family.

As the Director of Communications, Coralee is responsible for the strategic communications planning including, member communication, general public information and brand development for CPA Nova Scotia in keeping with CPA Canada Brand Standards. 

Coralee has her degree in public relations from Mount Saint Vincent University. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her family, reading, and hiking her hometown of Halifax.
