Blind Sports Nova Scotia - Treasurer

Blind Sports Nova Scotia (BSNS) is a not for profit organization that is a chapter of the Canadian Council of the Blind (CCB), a provincial sports organization of Canadian Blind Sports Association (CBSA) the national sports organization, and an associate member of Sport Nova Scotia. Our mission is to promote community, sports, active and healthy lifestyles for visually impaired Nova Scotians.

Our sport programs currently include goalball, blind hockey, tandem cycling, and running, and we engage in sport demonstrations & volunteer activities. Some of our programs are Paralympic Sports and our athletes participate in both competitive and recreational environments.

We are currently looking for a Treasurer to provide monthly accounting support as well as provide assistance to the Board on financial matters. Our annual revenue ranges between $30,000 and $50,000 and is highly dependent on grants and fundraising by the members. The duties of the Treasurer include:

Monthly accounting – depositing funds, writing cheques, maintaining the accounting records (currently on excel)
Preparation of cash flow statements for Board Meetings and presentation to the board
Working with CCB to issue donation receipts as required and provide financial results to them for year end
Prepare required not for profit filings
